Information on Airports in Albania
Albania is served by Tirana International Airport, a few miles North-West of the capital city of Tirana and reached by car by the E-762 or SH2 highways. It’s accessible by public transport, including the Rinas Express which operates 6AM-6PM hourly, running between the Airport and the national Museum in the centre of Tirana. The fare is ALL250 (Albanian Lek) – about US$2.50. Car rental services are also available, and taxis run to the Airport from all Albania’s major cities including Tirana. The journey from central Tirana to the Airport takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs about ALL2, 500 (US$25). There is a service available from Atex Taxis that allows travellers to reserve a taxi online.
Tirana International has a single dedicated smoking area and a lounge inside the Segafredo Bar in the Departures area. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. ATMs are available in the Check-in and Arrivals areas and a foreign exchange agency operates in Arrivals and Check –in. The Airport has four bars and one bar-restaurant, which open one hour before the first flight and operate until the departure of the last flight from TIA. There are ten shops in the concourse, offering electronic products, souvenirs, jewellery, books and trip accessories as well as duty free. These shops open one hour before the first flight of the day and close with the departure of the last flight.
Tirana International offers special services for travellers with reduced mobility, and for children (between 6 and 12) travelling alone and people with young children and babies. There is also assistance available for passengers requiring a special menu. However, the Airport recommends that passengers with special requirements contact their airline before travelling.
