albania enjoys a huge boost to popularity
News Posted On: 19 August 2011
Albania is currently enjoying a huge boost to its tourism industry as nearly half a million more tourists will visit the country this year compared to 2010. Around 2.15 million people will travel to the country this year, and apparently Albania is now the second largest investment market in the Balkans, and foreign investment exceeded $1 billion last year.
The country is following in the footsteps of Bulgaria which is currently in the top 10 of the most popular destinations for foreign property buyers, and as such has seen an increase in construction as well as an increase in property transactions. Other Balkan countries which are currently enjoying a boost in popularity include Bosnia and Macedonia.
However Albania is the only country in the Balkans where investment is actually increasing, as investment in many countries is still being constrained by the global financial problems. The news that tourism numbers are increasing in the country will undoubtedly attract more investors looking to cash in on the growing tourism industry in this emerging destination, and there are already signs that international buyers are seizing the opportunity to purchase property now before prices increase.
Property prices in the Balkans are still very mixed, as some countries and cities are seeing price increases, while others are continuing to see values fall. Some experts are predicting that Albania will become much more popular as a tourist destination within the next five years as everything is already in place including a good infrastructure, low cost of living and beautiful scenery, especially on the Adriatic coastline.
