Increasing numbers of people are opting to purchase homes in California, which could make the state a popular destination for investors looking to buy homes in the US.
Figures released by Housing Predictor revealed that the state is the second - after Florida - to start emerging from the decline in the housing market.
It commented: "Stronger home sales in the Golden State have begun to boost the California housing market out of the drudges and on the way to a full fledged recovery."
However, it noted that this will not happen immediately and said that analysts are looking at data to try and establish a more precise timescale.
The slow recovery period could provide buyers with the chance to acquire low-cost housing in the state and as the market starts to pick up, their investment could gain in value.
This comes after the US announced that it would be increasing the help offered to property owners in the country in a bid to cut the number of foreclosures.
