An expat from the UK has recommended moving to the US and buying property in the country.
Dave Murphy moved to New York in 1997 after leaving his home in Basildon, Essex.
He told the Echo that his move to Waldwick, New Jersey has had a number of positive effects on his life.
Mr Murphy's new home in the US has very little crime and he is on good terms with officials in the region.
As well as having a strong sense of community, the expat said there are other advantages to living in Waldwick.
He noted that there are a number of A-list celebrities living nearby, such as Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise and Stevie Wonder.
According to the National Association of Realtors, there was a 5.1 per cent rise in the number of sales of existing homes in the US last month.
In the 12 months leading up to January, there was a 19 per cent decline in real estate prices in the 20 largest cities in the country.
