Health Care
Healthcare in Australia is largely good with highly trained doctors and dentists and the well-equipped hospitals. UK and Australia have reciprocal agreement in emergency situations where patients can get free hospital treatment on the production of passport or proof of UK residence (like NHS medical card or UK Driving Licence). Prescribed medicines, doctors’ surgeries, and emergency treatment, including ambulance services, must be paid for.
The authorities in Australia strongly advise full travel insurance for all travellers to the country.
Travel Advice
From time to time, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK issues Travel Advisories for visits to Australia. Accordingly, most visits to Australia are trouble-free but the global threat from international terrorism can never be ruled out. Therefore, the travellers should take adequate precautions while visiting the places of tourists’ interest in Australia.
The visitors planning to visit remote and outback areas are advised to plan their visit well in advance.
The months from November to April are cyclone months in Australia, especially in Queensland, Northern Territory, and Western Australia.

Australian Passport and Visa regulations are subject to change at any time. The travellers are advised to consult Department of Immigration website (www.immi.gov.au) for the latest updates or call the Australian Immigration and Citizenship 24-hour Information Service (Tel: 0906 550 8900, in the UK; calls cost £1 per minute).
Visa is required by all nationals of the abovementioned countries except those continuing their journey to a third country within 8 hours of their arrival in Australia, provided they hold valid travel documentation. Transit visa (free of charge) is required for all other travellers if they intend to remain in the country for more than 72 hours.
All airports in Australia are not open during nights. Visitors would do well to plan their visit accordingly.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) Visas: The nationals of following countries can visit Australia (under ETA) for tourism, elective study, and short-term business visit: Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Cyprus, and Belarus.

Other Visa Fee:
Business Visitor (Long Validity) – A$70. ETA applications are only charged A$20 when applying online through DIMIA ETA website.
Visa fees are generally adjusted on 1 January and 1 July each year.
Validity:
Visitor ETA: 12 months from the date of issue or until passport expires, whichever is earlier; multiple entries up to 3 months on each visit.
Short Validity Business ETA: 12 months from the date of issue or until passport expires, whichever is earlier; multiple entries up to 3 months on each visit.
Long Validity Business Visitor ETA: 10 years or life of passport; multiple entries up to 3 months on each visit.
Non-ETA: Varies according visa-type, purpose of visit, and validity of passport. Usually valid from 3-12 months.
Working Days Required:
ETA: If issued through DIMIA’s ETA website or through travel agents or airline offices - immediately or within three working days.
Non-ETA: 10-15 working days.
