Increasing numbers of UK property owners are opting to sell their homes and set up in Australia, it has been claimed.
According the Daily Telegraph, many professionals are finding employment elsewhere in the world to cope with the economic downturn.
While Australia is a popular destination for leisure travellers, the country is also becoming an increasingly popular destination for working families and couples.
According to the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development, more than 3.2 million Britons are now living abroad, 1.1 million of whom are highly skilled graduates such as doctors or nurses.
Sue Hinkston, a British ward sister, commented: "I feel there isn't a lot of hope for the young here, and what I see in hospitals means that I certainly don't want to grow old here."
Now could be a good time for prospective expats to consider making a move to Australia because the market is steady despite the economic downturn, but prices have declined slightly over the last year.
