Prospective expats considering relocating to Austria might wish to purchase a home in Vienna, which a recent report said has the highest quality of living standards in the world.
According to the Mercer study, the country ranked highest overall after consideration of criteria which included water and electricity supply, range of international flights, stability, health and climatic concerns.
The city came in ahead of Zurich and Geneva in second and third respectively, as well as Vancouver in Canada and Auckland in New Zealand.
Vienna moved up a place from last year's rankings following improvements to the political and social environment in the European country, Mercer commented.
Other cities to make it into the top ten included Dusseldorf, Sydney and Munich at sixth, seventh and tenth respectively.
The real estate market in Austria managed to avoid many of the problems faced by other countries in the continent, according to the Financial Times.
