barbados has strong repeat business

The tourist sector in Barbados has not been hit as strongly as other countries by the economic downturn because it has a strong return market, it has been claimed.
Richard Sealy, minister of tourism, told a reception hosted by the Barbados Tourism Authority that almost half of the leisure travellers who head to the island nation are repeat visitors, reports the Barbados Advocate.
This, he said, means that the country has only experienced a "modest decline" because most people enjoy holidays in Barbados so much so that they opt to return.
"We are talking about persons with 15, 25, 30, visits to Barbados. It is almost unreal when you think about it, but it only goes to show the kind of destination we are," said Mr Sealy.
This could be welcome news for overseas property investors considering purchasing a home in Barbados because a steady flow of tourists means there is always likely to be a strong rental market.
It could also improve the opportunities to sell property in Barbados on as holidaymakers might consider acquiring their own home in the sun.
Georgina Richards of estate agent Knight Frank recently claimed that Barbados is a "tried and tested" destination, which makes it particularly attractive in times of economic and financial uncertainty.
