barbados will weather the global economic downturn

Prospective buyers of overseas property in Barbados might be encouraged to learn that prime minister David Thompson has asserted that his country will be able to survive the global financial crisis.
Mr Thompson said the Caribbean nation's values of democratic governance, respect for human rights and social justice will help it through the tough economic period.
He added that the country has successfully handled its own problems and situations for almost 50 years.
"We have weathered perennial storms, whether natural or man-made, with stoic resilience and an abiding faith," said Mr Thompson.
The confidence of the nation's premier might help persuade overseas property investors to purchase a home on the Caribbean island.
A number of celebrities own residences in Barbados, including Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and Oprah Winfrey.
