government official is optimistic about barbados tourism industry

A top government official in the country has indicated that there are good signs for the tourism sector in Barbados.
Minister for tourism Richard Sealy remained positive at the World Travel Market in London, despite the economic downturn in the US and rest of the world, Barbados has a more diversified source, reports the NationalNews.com.
The online portal noted that the last significant decline in tourism was after September 11th 2001, but the government reacted by pumping money into the sector to keep it afloat.
However, Mr Sealy said that he thought that the Caribbean nation would experience a "good winter season".
This may be encouraging news for investors thinking of purchasing a property in Barbados, whether it is intended to yield long-term returns or provide a holiday home, as it could be rented out to tourists in the off-season.
The island nation is currently targeting US leisure travellers through an advertising campaign on CNN and Fox.
