Overseas property buyers looking for a home abroad to avoid the heavy taxes they face in the UK might do well to consider a home in Belize, it has been claimed.
According to Mark Hughes-Morgan of the Daily Mail, the Central American country is very attractive to older property buyers.
He explained an initiative called the Qualified Retired Persons Incentive Act means that anyone with an income of more than £1,350 per month over the age of 45 years old can enjoy a number of benefits in Belize.
These include the right to import vehicles and other private assets free of charge, as well as not having to pay capital or income tax.
Ben Mason of Someplaceelse, commented: "Belize has so much to offer É English is the first language, the legal system is based on the UK's and it's cheaper than the vast majority of the Caribbean, but only an hour and 40 minutes flight from Miami."
Those who purchase a property in Belize to rent out to tourists could find there is an abundance of holidaymakers travelling to the country to visit to the land-based and marine nature reserves.
