Bulgaria offers ski fanatics the chance to own a holiday home beside some fantastic slopes for under £20k. You are just not going to get that anywhere else in the world, according to overseas property portal Property Abroad.com, but the opportunity will not always exist said Les Calvert, the portal's director.
"The prices are so low because of the risk factor involved in buying off plan, and also because of the Bulgarian currency. Obviously the apartments will not always be off plan, and Bulgaria is making every effort to adopt the Euro as soon as possible, so anyone who wants to get one of these apartments should act quickly," he said.
"Bulgaria makes a private ski-holiday home accessible to the masses," he added.
Bulgaria was very popular in recent years because of the low property prices and also because the low living costs mean cheap holidays. But the cost of living always grows in-line with economic growth, which is expected to return to Bulgaria by 2011 at the latest. This is about the same time as the off plan developments of today are completing, and will add to the upward pressure on prices.
Bulgaria is by no means a short-term investment destination, but over the long-term property is a sound investment, especially if you intend to get some family usage out of it for holidays then it make double the sense. The low prices also mean strong rental yields.
