Increasing numbers of Russian investors are opting to buy property in Bulgaria, a recent study has found. Some 18.8 per cent of all applications processed for real estate by the Russian website Prian.ru were for homes in the eastern European nation, reports the Sofia Echo.
According to the March 2009 figures from the firm, Bulgaria is the most popular destination for Russian real estate investors in the world.
In second place was the US with only 7.85 per cent, less than half the number of searches that Bulgaria attracted.
This was despite the fact that the percentage of searches for Bulgarian property fell by one per cent compared to the interest shown in January.
Other countries luring Russian real estate investment included Spain, Germany, Finland, Italy and the Czech Republic.
This comes after Property Wire reported that confidence in the Bulgarian real estate sector remains high despite a decline in prices.
