cape verde given £5m loan
News Posted On: 08 January 2009
The government of Cape Verde has been given a loan of more than £4.9 million by the African Development Bank (ADB).
MacauHub stated that the cash is likely to be used to raise the standard of living across the country.
According to the ADB, the country's economy has been strong over the last ten years and the authorities know what they want to achieve from their economic transformation strategy.
This, it said, indicates that the government of the West African archipelago has a "clear vision" for the future.
It is thought that the funding will be used to help reduce poverty and maintain the existing economic policies.
Improved conditions in Cape Verde and support from the ADB could make the nation an attractive one in which to purchase an overseas property.
The archipelago was ranked fourth in a list of best-governed nations in Africa, which was compiled by Mo Abrahim and Harvard University.
