Information on Airports in China

Beijing Capital International Airport is reached from the centre of Beijing by a dedicated Airport Expressway, and the journey time is about 20 minutes. The airport can be reached by the Airport-City Shuttle Bus departs from outside Arrivals and takes several routes into the city, passing major destinations in the city including the main railway station and also at some of Beijing’s major hotels.

Metered taxis are available at the officially designated taxi ranks, and journey time into the city centre is between 45 and 60 minutes. Since many drivers speak little English it is advisable to mark your destination on a map or have it written in Chinese. Facilities in the airport include banks, Bureaux de Change and ATMs throughout the terminals. Shops and restaurants are available throughout the airport and duty free shopping is available. The airport is fully accessible to disabled passengers and there is additional assistance on hand from the Beijing Airport Ground Service Corporation. A 24 hour medical centre and a passenger changing room are also available.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport serves the major southern Chinese port city of Shanghai, and is currently being expanded with two more terminals and additional runways due to open in 2015. The airport is accessible by car via the Yingbin Road or by Fareast Road and by rail by the world’s fastest magnetic levitation train, the Maglev Train, which links the airport with the metro line 2 at Longyang Station, taking about 8 minutes. Other routes run to the football stadium and major hotels.

There are several banks, Bureaux de Change and ATMs located within the terminal buildings and internet stations are located within the terminals as well as Wi-Fi internet available throughout. Duty free shopping is available and there are also gift retailers, designer brand shops and more, mostly concentrated in shopping areas on the third floor of both terminals. The airport is highly accessible to disabled passengers.
