For UK nationals, all the emergency medical treatment in Croatia is generally free on the production of a UK passport. Similarly, medical agreements are in place with several other European countries. The free treatment facility is not extended to any non-emergency treatment and medicines.
The authorities in Croatia strongly advise full travel insurance for all travellers to the country.

From time to time, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK issues Travel Advisories for visits to Croatia. Accordingly, most visits to Croatia are trouble-free but the global threat from international terrorism can never be ruled out. Therefore, the travellers should take adequate precautions while visiting the places of tourists’ interest in Croatia.
Additionally, there is still a danger from unexploded landmines in isolated areas of Croatia. Most populated regions and major routes have been cleared of all landmines but some mountainous regions may still pose dangers from the landmines. Therefore, travellers are advised to deviate from the route and explore the unexplored parts of the country only with an expert guide.
The recent political turmoil in the country means extra security measures in place in the country. Therefore, travellers must always carry all the relevant travel documents whenever they are outdoors.

Passports are valid for at least the length of the stay required by all nationals of the abovementioned countries.
Note 1: The above condition is not applicable for EU nationals holding a valid national ID card. Such EU nationals are only required to produce evidence of their EU nationality and identity in order to be admitted to any EU Member State, including Croatia. Identity can be proved either by a valid a national passport or any valid national identity card.
Visas are not required for the nationals of the abovementioned countries for stay up to 90 days. The nationals of countries other than those mentioned in the above chart are requested to contact the embassy for visa requirements. |
