croatia to spend 30 million euros on increasing tourism

The Croatian government has announced plans to spend 30 million euros on tourism advertising this year, which is a 2 million euros increase on last year's tourism, spend.
The campaign, which will encompass 12 countries, including Western Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be focussed on increasing tourism from Bulgaria. This, according to the Croat tourism authorities represents significant potential for growth in the coming years, and is currently well below potential.
The advertising campaign will air on prominent networks such as the BBC, Eurosport, Euronews, and CNN, and will feature clips of Croatia, focussing on the country's natural riches and beauty, cultural and culinary traditions, and the strengths of the country as a "lifestyle destination".
In 2006 and 2007 Croatia was being looked upon as the regional leader in terms of tourism growth, but its momentum crashed during the crunch. That said: all countries in the region experienced the same difficulty and it will be the countries that come out of the restarting blocks the fastest that will reap the biggest rewards that is undoubtedly why Croatia has chosen to increase its tourism spend now.
Another reason is because the tourism industry makes up a large proportion of the Croatian economy, and it will be a necessary component of any recovery in the Croatian economy.
