cyprus tourism industry to receive welcome boost
News Posted On: 01 June 2011
The tourism industry in Cyprus is set to receive a welcome boost with the announcement that 15 new development projects are due to take place in Larnaca over the next five years. These multi-million pound developments include a new 900 berth marina, an 18-hole golf course, sports complex, renovation of the Piale Pashia coastal road, and a pedestrian walkway between Voroklini and Pyla.
Pyla is a historical village that is receiving much interest from overseas investors. It has a good selection of beaches hotels and restaurants and is just 10 minutes from the airport and Larnaca town centre. It's also becoming extremely popular with second home owners.
A spokesman for the Cypriot Tourism Board believes that these developments will boost the property market, and that they are encouraging news for buy to let investors. Larnaca has recently benefited from a new international airport and the creation of the three town squares, and already has much to offer residents and tourists, and these new developments will only enhance its appeal.
The tourism figures for this year are already looking extremely promising as there was a 43% increase in the numbers of arrivals into Cyprus in April 2011 compared to April 2010 which is solid statistical evidence that a recovery is well underway.
The island of Cyprus enjoys an enviable 340 days of sunshine a year, and Larnaca is the third largest city on the island. It is close to the largest airport on Cyprus which has a number of direct flights to the UK. Part of Cyprus's popularity with the British buyer’s lies in its British-based legal, banking and accountancy system which is easy to navigate.
