The Dominican Republic is served by several major international airports including Puerto Plata Gregorio Luperon and Punta Cana International. Puerto Plata is located in the North of the country and is the country’s fourth busiest airport. It is connected to Puerto Plata city by busses and minibuses, which run frequently, and a shuttle service can be prebooked. Taxis to any destination on the island are available from outside the terminal building, with fares starting at about US$0.20. A bank, a Bureau de Change and an ATM are available in the terminal, along with various fast food outlets, bars and restaurants. Disabled access is relativey good, with wheelchairs and assistance available, toilets for wheelchair users and reserved parking spaces for disabled drivers.
Punta Cana International, situated on the East of the Dominican Republic, offers prearranged shuttle connections with most major hotels in the area. There are no scheduled bus services, but there are taxis readily available from outside Arrivals. The airport offers ATMs, currency exchange and other banking services in the arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2, payphones are available and Wi-Fi access is provided. There is a good choice of cafes, restaurants and bars, offering both local and international cuisine. There is also a large duty-free chopping complex and good disabled facilities.
