The Dominican Republic has been identified as a strong market for foreign property buyers. According to Caribbean Land and Property, the nation is holding up well during the economic downturn, which could make it an attractive destination for overseas property buyers. Among the lifestyle benefits offered by the Dominican Republic are a low cost of living and strong transport links with the rest of the world.The firm described the island nation as one of the most stable in the Caribbean and said it offered real estate prices that are affordable. "Property prices within the Dominican Republic remain very competitive when compared with other Caribbean locations and offer very good value for money," the company stated.It noted that these factors meant that increasing numbers of buyers from across the globe are considering acquiring an investment property in the country.There could also be a strong rental market for buy-to-let investors thinking of acquiring a home in the Dominican Republic. According to the Central Bank of Dominican Republic about 3.5 million tourists visited the island in the last year.
