An increasing number of Britons are choosing to buy property in Egypt, according to an airline.
The relative weakness of the pound against the euro has encouraged Britons to look further afield for holiday destinations in recent months.
Among the beneficiaries of this trend has been Egypt, which can offer tourists the twin attractions of beach resorts and ancient civilisation.
To cater for this demand, FlyGlobespan has added a new route from Scotland to Sharm El Sheikh to its schedule.
Rick Green, chief executive officer of the airline's parent company Globespan Group, said he had noticed that Britons did not just view the African country as a one-off holiday destination.
"More Brits are buying property in Egypt too which, as a low-cost provider, helps us develop our route network planning," said Mr Green.
He added that the most popular locations among those travelling to Egypt were the resorts of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.
