britons driving in france should research road regulations
News Posted On: 26 June 2009
People who are driving overseas, possibly while on a holiday or visiting their property abroad, have been urged to make sure they research the rules of the road.
According to Sheila's Wheels, 83 per cent of those who are planning to take their car overseas this year will visit France.
However, the car insurance company has warned that many people are failing to consider the fact that driving rules and regulations are different in other countries.
As a result, Britons overseas could be advertently breaking the law or risking being involved in an accident.
The company has therefore urged people who are visiting their property in France to do find out the details of its driving laws before travelling.
Jacky Brown, spokesperson for Sheilas' Wheels, commented: "It's vital that motorists do their research beforehand by making sure they understand the basic rules and regulations for driving on foreign roads."
Meanwhile, Skyscanner has reported that the number of Americans and mainland Europeans booking trips to France has gone up by nearly a fifth in the last year.
