french property in the alps to benefit from increased accessibility
News Posted On: 02 August 2010
The buy to let potential of French property in the alps took a massive turn upward this week, when Eurostar announced a new winter service between the UK and the Alps. The service, which will run between Ashford Int. and St Pancras Int. in the UK to Moutiers, Aime-La-Plagne and Bourg St Maurice, all within easy reach of many top ski-resorts, will start December 19 and cost from around £149 return.
Despite the huge increase in the popularity of flying gave birth to by the budget airline boom, there are still many people who will not fly, some because they are scared, others because they don't like the effect on the environment, and others still because of health considerations.
For these people a home abroad would have previously been an impractical indulgence, but they can now buy a home in the French Alps and take the train to it whenever they fancy a ski, or just to soak up the wonderful atmosphere of winter amidst the powdery white peaks. Above all though, it is another layer of accessibility, another option for those travelling to the Alps.
Experts have noted an upturn in the popularity of French property in recent times, as the security of the French leaseback outweighs the potential returns offered by emerging market properties for many buyers. The Alps is one of the biggest benefactors of this tide-change, because the leaseback is primarily a holiday home that earns, and the Alps is one of France's top holiday spots.
