property abroad might attract cost conscious britons

Owners of property abroad might be able to take advantage of the growing desire of Britons to opt for self-catering accommodation in an effort to save money.
According to Peter Smith, travel expert at travelsupermarket.com, increasing numbers of people in the UK are saving their pennies by renting property when on their vacation.
"You might find people are going to local supermarkets more rather than eating out every night so you get a lot of people self-catering," he commented.
As more people opt for self-catering breaks during the recession, owners of property in popular locations such as Brittany, France might be able to cash in by renting out their holiday homes.
Recent research by HolidayExtras.com published earlier this month revealed that seven per cent of Britons are planning to spend no more than £10 per person per day during their summer break.
More than one-third said they would be spending up to £50 each day while on holiday, which amounts to up to £2,800 for a family of four on a two-week vacation.
