searches and enquiries up for greece property
News Posted On: 27 February 2009
Overseas property portal Property Abroad is seeing an increase in the number of searches for Greece property. The increase is likely due to people looking to take the credit crunch as an opportunity and get a bargain holiday home in the country, according to Julie Liddle, a market trends analyst with the firm, she said:
"The number of searches for Greek property has been increasing steadily since mid-January, and it is now one of the most searched for countries we cover. I put this down to people looking for a bargain holiday home, but the fact that many of the searchers end up enquiring about bargain properties in need of renovation, shows that a large percentage of them are potential holiday home investors.
"We have started a monthly survey which we will be sending to those who have advertised, and currently are advertising properties with Property-Abroad.com Ltd, in an attempt to find out how many serious enquiries there are for the various markets we cover, and how many are just enquiring on a whim, and hopefully also to find out what properties are selling for compared to the prices they are advertised at. We will be revealing these findings on a monthly basis."
Property Abroad is currently listing some properties that are ideal for the new age property developing investor; i.e. properties that are being sold at very low prices because they are in need of renovation work.
A perfect example of this type of opportunity is the country house in Crete, being sold for around the £20k mark. The property is in an excellent location, and has scope to become a 2 or even a 3 bedroom house. Renovation costs will be far less than they would be in the UK, "it could be done up, and be an absolutely beautiful 2 or 3 bedroom house for about £32, 000," said Les Calvert, Property Abroad director.
