Health Care
Healthcare, though one of the best at metropolitans, is largely limited in the country. UK travellers on medication are advised to bring adequate stock of their medicines before coming to India. Both State-operated and private health professionals and specialists are available at most urban centres.
Visitors leaving for countries that impose health restrictions on arrivals from India are required to be in possession of a valid certificate of inoculation and vaccination
We strongly advise full travel insurance for all travellers to the country.
Travel Advice
From time to time, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK issues Travel Advisories for visits to India. Accordingly, most visits to India are trouble-free but the global threat from international terrorism can never be ruled out. In fact, the terror threat in India is quite high in major cities and business centres in the wake of serial blasts at places, like Mumbai, Varanasi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Therefore, the travellers should take adequate precautions while visiting the places of tourists’ interest in India. In general, the visitors should be extra-cautious travelling to any part of India.
The rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir (excluding Ladakh) are prone to terror violence perpetrated by separatist organisations actively supported by some elements in Pakistan.
The visitors would do well to avoid Northeastern states of Assam, Manipur and Tripura due to the problems of insurgency and high crime levels.
Local protests and demonstrations could easily turn violent. Visitors would do well to keep themselves updated and avoid getting caught in any of these protests.
Offences, like trafficking, and dealing in illegal drugs are handled severely.
