women are buying property in india
News Posted On: 21 March 2009
More and more women are opting to buy property in India, it has been suggested.
Aman Gehlot, director of developer Ambience Group, said female real estate investors in the country get a number of benefits, such as tax exemptions and lower stamp duties, reports Property Wire.
He noted that states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Orissa all offer reduced rates for women, which has led to a surge in property interest among the nation's female population.
"Women even enjoy the benefit of a higher tax rebate compared to men," Mr Gehlot commented.
This could be welcome news for prospective property investors as there could more people able to bid on a home in India when it is resold.
Property Wire added that banks in the country are not showing any sign of hesitation in lending to women.
Reuters recently reported that property buyers could find bargains in India in the near future as landlords might be forced into firesales.
