buying property in malaysia could lead to cheap living costs

News Posted On: 11 March 2009

Overseas property investors looking to expatriate to a country where the living expenses are low might wish to consider moving to Malaysia.

The country's deputy tourism minister Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib told TGG Live that day-to-day costs are minimal in his country.

"People recognise that accommodation and entertainment in Malaysia is not prohibitively expensive. When people come here they can have a full three-course meal for as little as £5," he said.

Those who do not fancy moving so far afield could still take advantage of the low costs by purchasing a home to rent out to British tourists.

Mr Taib claimed the economic downturn in the UK will lead to an influx of budget travellers looking for a low-cost break overseas.

He noted that four weeks in Malaysia could cost the same as four days in a European city.

An added advantage for those looking to move to Malaysia is that they will be allowed to own their home, unlike expatriates in neighbouring countries such as Indonesia.
