new flights could boost property abroad sales in malaysia
News Posted On: 08 May 2009
Buying property in Malaysia could become a more attractive prospect for investors now that more air links are opening in the Asian nation.
According to transport minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, the tourism industry in the country is likely to benefit from AirAsia's plan to provide more daily flights between Singapore and Langkawi, reports the Star.
With more tourists flying to the country, owners of holiday homes could find that there is a greater market for short-term rental accommodation.
The minister revealed that the country is already looking into improving flight links with other nations around the world, news that will be welcomed by those considering buying property in Malaysia.
Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, chief executive officer of the airline, commented: " Since the announcement of the new route, we received 50 per cent booking for seats in June, especially during the school holidays."
The tourism ministry in Malaysia recently announced that it plans to attract more "sophisticated" tourists from Japan.
