retirees could benefit from buying property in mexico
News Posted On: 20 March 2009
Retirees might be able to enjoy a good quality of life if they buy property in Mexico, it has been suggested.
According to Shelter Offshore, the country is an attractive destination for older expats because it offers retirement visas to anyone who can prove they have an income of £900 each month.
This figure is reduced for those who buy property in the country because rent is no longer an issue.
Mexico was recently rated as the best retirement destination in the International Living annual global retirement index.
The ranking was based on the cost of buying property, safety, culture, healthcare, climate, infrastructure and cost of living.
Shelter Offshore asserted that while the cost of living was dependant on lifestyle, someone bringing in £1,200 would probably be very comfortable in Mexico.
Luis Riu, chief executive officer of Riu Hotels and Resorts, said in an interview with Hotels Magazine that Mexico is a country with good investment opportunities.
