tourist numbers rise in mexico

In the second half of 2009, Mexico enjoyed a year-on-year growth in the number of tourists heading to the country.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism, the last six months of 2009 experienced a 4.6 per cent rise in the number of leisure travellers opting to take a break in Mexico.
The statistics showed that between June and December last year, there were a total of 11.4 million tourist arrivals.
This is up from 10.96 million visitors during the same period the year before.
Owners of property in the Latin American country might benefit from the growing interest in Mexico because there could be a strong demand for rental accommodation.
With an economic slowdown in the US, investors with property in Mexico might find that increasing numbers of Americans are looking for a cheap holiday in the country rather than travelling further afield.
The Boston City Guide Examiner stated that Mexico is likely to be one of the favourite tourist destinations this year because it is easy to access and has great beaches and cultural attractions.
