Montenegro is emerging as a major overseas property market due to its legislation on housing acquisition and stunning scenery, it has been claimed.
Homes Overseas magazine said the country offers leisure travellers "high mountains, deep inland lakes and a spectacular coastline" and is attracting both professional investors and lifestyle buyers.
It noted that the region has been enjoying a great amount of interest since it was granted independence from Serbia in 2006.
Glenda Lazare, managing director of investment specialist Key Universal, said: "The country has a burgeoning tourist industry, bolstered by the government's tourism master plan, which aims to develop high-end hotels, golf courses and other luxury facilities."
She suggested that the European country could represent an "excellent" investment opportunity.
Homes Overseas said the property buying process in Montenegro is simple, adding that the nation is easy to access from the UK.
Gordon McKenzie of TravelMole.co.uk recently suggested that the nation could appeal to UK travellers because it is "somewhere different" but has a number of low-cost flights from Britain.
