Health Care
Healthcare in New Zealand is of high standard with private and public hospitals offering modern medical facilities and treatments. The visitors can easily access the telephone numbers of doctors and hospitals from the front of the white pages of local telephone
Directories. There are ‘Urgent Pharmacies’ in the country if anyone needs medicines after normal shopping hours. Also, many hotels offer Doctor-on-call service.
The visitors planning to stay in the country for a long term (2 or more years) with valid permit can enjoy the same healthcare services in the country as New Zealand citizens.
The reciprocal agreement between UK and New Zealand authorities ensure that short-term British visitors can avail publicly funded health treatment.
The authorities in New Zealand strongly advise full travel insurance for all travellers to the country, including the cover for adventure activities.
Travel Advice
From time to time, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK issues Travel Advisories for visits to New Zealand. Accordingly, most visits to New Zealand are trouble-free but the global threat from international terrorism can never be ruled out. Therefore, the travellers should take adequate precautions while visiting the places of tourists’ interest in New Zealand.
Visitors planning to visit remote areas are advised to plan their visit well in advance, and let their plans known to the local authorities, or friends or relatives before setting out due to the fickle New Zealand weather during winters.
At the time of publishing, this information is correct. However, the travel advice is periodically and rapidly updated. Therefore, all the visitors are advised to contact at the following addresses for the latest travel advice:
