Recent research has revealed that two-thirds of expats believe that they have a better life overseas now that they have bought property abroad and relocated.
Conducted by Halifax International, the study found that the majority of Brits living abroad felt that their new country of residence was fairing better in the economic downturn, reported Shelter Offshore.
As well as enjoying a better life abroad, many former UK residents are earning more overseas than they did back home.
"A few expats … haven't even seen their cost of living rise," the online portal commented.
This could make relocating to a country such as Switzerland an increasingly attractive option.
Indeed, a recent study by Mercer ranked Zurich and Geneva in the top five cities in the world in terms of quality of living, placing them in second and third respectively.
They placed higher than Vancouver and Auckland and were only beaten by Vienna.
