Property-Abroad.com Ltd, a company that is collectively responsible for over 300 websites, each specialising in a particular county or area of the property industry, has announced a 35% increase in the number of properties for sale by owner (FSBO) since July 2008. Les Calvert director of the group said:
"FSBO is really taking off for us as more people look to release capital or move. Also the downturn in various global markets and people realising they are not going to make the rapid gains they perhaps thought when they invested has brought many people to sell their properties as they rush to cut their losses.
"But not just that," continued Calvert. More and more people are making the web their first choice for almost everything they, buy, sell, need to find out or want to achieve, so it is logical that more people would seek to sell their own property online, which is often less expensive and more cost-effective than advertising with agents. In fact FSBO has become such a growing market lately we have set up a new website specifically catering for FSBO properties: sell-my-property.com"
