Panama is increasingly attractive to investors and expats as the cost of property here is much cheaper than similar properties in the Caribbean islands while offering the same kinds of amenities. A property that would cost millions in the Caribbean will cost between $300,000 and $600,000 in Panama, but it's possible to buy places with beautiful views for much less.
The growing numbers of overseas investors and expats means that amenities are becoming increasingly better with most offering excellent telecommunications including Internet.
One such place that is attracting interest is the town of Volcan which is often compared to an emerging Boquete. Boquete was voted one of the top places in the world to retire by Fortune magazine so this place is well worth a look before prices rise.
The climate here is beautiful, with cool evening temperatures and warm days and it's possible to buy a two bedroom house on a quarter of an acre lot for $65,000, or you can buy a 7500 ft.² lot in town for $17,500. By choosing to travel just 10 to 15 minutes outside the town you can purchase a lot three times that size for the same price.
The most popular beach resort in Panama is Coronado which is just an hour's drive from Panama City. This resort has excellent amenities and prices of homes near the beach start from $200,000 upwards. Gorgona Beach is just 15 minutes away giving easy access to the amenities for considerably less as $75,000 will buy you a home just a couple of minutes from the beach.
