panama economy and property market to get boost from us recovery

Panama's economy could grow by more than the 3% forecast, because America and other major trading partners are recovering from the recession earlier than had been expected it has been claimed.
Les Calvert, director of overseas property portal Property Abroad.com said:
"Like so many economies in Latin America, the US is a major source of revenue for Panama's economy, the beginnings of a recovery in America will have a major impact on Panama's economy," he said.
"Panama's economy is primarily fuelled by the services sector, with the largest revenue share coming from the operation of the Panama Canal and Colon Free Trade Zone. As the world recovers, exports from the US and around the world will increase, which will increase the revenues from the Canal and Colon, thus boosting the Panamanian economy," Calvert added.
"And finally, a large portion of Panama property sales come from the US and the America's. The US recovery, and the boost this gives other economies in the region will undoubtedly trigger increased sales of luxury property in Panama.
The portal is currently advertising property for sale in Panama, with prices starting from around £50,000.
