Panama property is benefiting from the beginnings of a resurgence in low-budget overseas property investment and holiday home investment (people who buy a holiday home with plans to make money from its rental when not in use -- most buyers will want to rent their property out for security).
The Panama property market has fallen into the shadow of obscurity since the downturn made us scared to speak of those far-flung investment destinations, but, according to the reports that have been coming out the market has remained strong, with no major cancellations from construction firms like have been seen elsewhere.
Panama is set to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the next few years, as global exports increase, using the Panama Canal, and the expansion of said canal completes in 2014. Thus, the commercial sector of the property market is getting huge interest from around the world, including Asia.
Residential property buyers tend to be holiday home buyers, who see the benefits of getting a property near a tropical beach for a fraction of what it would cost in established markets. Private investors tend to go for resort properties, either coastal resorts or city resorts, of course, in Panama the two are not mutually exclusive, and the top properties are coastal resorts in the city, either the capital Panama City, or the City of David.
Panama is the number 1 destination for American retirees, who opened up the destination. However, these will tend to look outside of the resorts into new areas for their peace and quiet.
