Language

Polish is the official and most popular language of Poland. German is also prevalent in some pockets of the country where German-speaking population reside, mostly in Southwest. English and Russian are also spoken in some parts of the country.

AC 220 volts, 50Hz. Continental Sockets are commonly used.

Zloty (PLN, symbol Zl). 1Zl = 100 groszy

Notes prevalent = Zl 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200

Coins prevalent = Zl1, 2 and 5; groszy 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50

Currency Exchange

Currency Exchange facility is available at all border-crossing points, hotels, and bureaux de change. Some of the bureaux de change are open 24 hours. You may also come across some hotels and big stores that have their rates listed in Euros. For more details and exchange rates, travellers are advised to consult their banks

Credit/Debit Cards and ATMs

Credit/Debit/ATM Cards of all major companies, like American Express, MasterCard, Diners Club, and Visa accepted. However, it is advisable to carry some cash as well. Cash can also be obtained from Visa Credit Cards at banks.

Traveller's Cheques

Travellers Cheques can be easily exchanged at the authorized exchange centres (bureaux de change). The travellers are also advised to carry travellers’ cheques in major currencies, like Pounds Sterling, in order to avoid additional exchange rate charges.

Banks in Poland function from Monday to Friday from 0900-1600 in major cities, and in smaller towns, the banking hours are usually restricted.
