poland economy fairing better and recommended for property investment
News Posted On: 26 June 2009
Poland has become the latest country in and around Europe to show positive economic signs. Retail sales were 1.1% higher in May than in April, and Unemployment was 0.2% lower in May compared to April, the Polish statistical office said, with a total of 1.68 million registered unemployed.
Some 560 companies declared they would soon lay off some 30,500 employees, compared to 9,700 expected lay-offs in 2008.
Recently reports have circulated that Poland is faring better economically than most the rest of Europe, now this is being backed-up by cold hard statistics. The real test is to see weather the positive data continues or if it is a monthly blip.
It is likely to be a sign of the recovery beginning according to Les Calvert, director of overseas property portal Property Abroad.
"We have always had great faith in the Polish economy. It has lost popularity with property investors in recent years, but the international downturn has somewhat levelled the playing field, and the country to recover quicker will become very popular with investors," he said.
Poland expects to adopt the Euro in 2012, provided it can bring its budget deficit under control, so investors should get in now, and get property at the low prices only possible in independent currency nations.
