portugal offers compelling options for those buying property

Those considering buying property in Portugal could find that there are some "compelling opportunities" in the country, an expert has claimed.
According to Rachel Lupiani, head of Carlyle Real Estate acquisitions team for Spain and Portugal, the sector is very localised in the Iberian nation.
She told PropertyWeek.com that the market has been less affected by the downturn in the global economy compared with other countries in Europe.
"The market repricing across all property sectors will offer some compelling opportunities," Ms Lupiani commented.
Many buyers appear to have taken note of this already, according to recent figures from Primelocation.com.
Data released by the firm showed that there was a 15 per cent increase in the number of enquiries about property in the country last month compared with the same period in 2008.
