portugal property gaining exposure
News Posted On: 20 August 2010
Portugal property is attracting increasing attention from the overseas property industry press, and even the UK national press, with the Telegraph having covered Portuguese property -- particularly foreigners buying there -- twice in as many months.
The first piece, in late July told the story of the Carter's who set up a Portuguese estate agency, after buying in Portugal themselves, and subsequently helping other Brits to do so as well. The Carter's give their five top tips.
And the most recent article, detailed how those buying overseas property today are increasingly looking to have a community around the property -- to be part of something they are familiar with, "a ready made social life" as it is being called.
“Buyers are more likely now to have a grasp of the local language and are no longer happy to live in English ghettos,” says Giles Gale from Savills’ international team.
“Quinta da Lago is the classic example, as Portugal’s premier integrated golf resort with a well-established community,” he adds. “Prices on the resort have barely fallen as a consequence, with villas costing from £750,000, unlike the secondary golf resorts in the Algarve.”
Golf resorts in Portugal, and elsewhere are surely a prime example of this, or you'd certainly expect them to be. Golfers buy golf property, in golf resorts, and go to their homes to enjoy playing golf, where they are met by other golfers who have done exactly the same thing for the same reasons.
