Portuguese real estate could be the ideal purchase for investors looking for a warm climate and property abroad that is built to a high standard, it has been claimed.
According to the Irish Times, the Algarve is well-known for the warm climate and it is one of the closest destinations to the UK and Ireland to offer consistently good weather.
The publication noted that there is "an element of elitism" in the property market in Portugal, which might make it a more attractive destination than Spain.
"[Portugal has] forged a reputation for high build quality, an advantage that shouldn't be underestimated," it commented.
While bargains might be difficult to find in prime tourist areas, property abroad buyers get more stability and reliability with a purchase in Portugal, the Irish Times suggested.
Despite this, Currency Index's figures from June this year showed that there has been a 16.3 per cent decline in the cost of property in the Iberian nation compared to the same time last year.
