Health Care
Travellers to Romania must note that the medical facilities in the country are nothing to write home about. There is serious dearth of specialists and even basic medicines and supplies are lacking in Romania. Nationals of all the member nations of European Economic Ares (EEA) are entitled to free emergency medical treatment on the production of European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Nationals belonging to countries with which Romania doesn’t have any reciprocal health agreements are required to pay immediate cash for the health facilities they avail during their stay in Romania.
The authorities in Romania strongly advise full travel insurance for all travellers to the country.
Travel Advice
From time to time, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK issues Travel Advisories for visits to Romania. Accordingly, most visits to Romania are trouble-free but the global threat from international terrorism can never be ruled out. Therefore, the travellers should take adequate precautions while visiting the places of tourists’ interest in Romania.
Travellers to Romania are advised to keep vigilance from pickpockets and petty thieves, especially in crowded places.
Further, the recent surge in Hepatitis A cases in Romania should be noted with caution, and as far as possible, drink only bottled water. Seek medical advise about inoculations before traveling.
