Recent research has revealed that investors looking to purchase property in a country - such as St Lucia - want to be sure they can trust developers.
According to a leading property portal, investors want to be assured of the "developer's viability as a business" and need them to "demonstrate their integrity".
Nicholas Marr, chief executive officer of the online portal, stated: "Overseas investors are quite rightly concerned with the safety of their money. Developers who can demonstrate their integrity will clearly benefit."
The survey showed that some of the questions asked by professional investors included queries about the guarantees the developers could give and whether the project was on target.
Cater Allen private bank recently stated that three million people are likely to buy a home overseas in the next two years.
The study found that 2.3 million already have a foreign property and of these 500,000 use it solely for investment purposes.
