Overseas property investors could find good value homes in the Caribbean island of St Lucia, it has been claimed.
The nation is an attractive "year-round" destination and could be an extremely "lucrative" place to acquire a property, according to Prestigious Properties.
Marco Bonini, managing director of the company, told the Times that an added advantage of purchasing real estate in St Lucia is that there are plenty of direct flights from the US and UK.
Les Calvert, director of Property Abroad, recently said that Barbados was attracting a great deal of interest from buyers looking for a safe option, but Mr Bonini claimed St Lucia will be "key in 2009".
"Prices are still well below those in Barbados, but the island is now seeing the arrival of true luxury resorts," he asserted.
The Times added that St Lucia offers beautiful topography which could mean that holidaymakers will want rental accommodation in the area so they can visit Val des Pitons, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
