st lucia property market to benefit from increased accessibility

St Lucia's property market is to receive a much-needed boost from the commencement of several new flights to the island from 3 major airlines.
British Airways are increasing their direct flights from Gatwick to St Lucia from three to five times per week from October 2009. There is also a new weekly service from Frankfurt operated by Condor, starting from 1st November 2009, and in the US Jet Blue has announced a new service from New York to St Lucia with three flights per week from October 26th 2009. Virgin already flies three times per week from Gatwick.
St Lucia is already a very popular place with lifestyle buyers, not least because of its favourable ta regime, including no capital gains tax and no inheritance tax. It is hoped that the new flights will increase the potential for holiday lettings and may make St Lucia equally, or at least more popular with overseas investors.
"Lifestyle buyers love St Lucia because of its beaches, the low crime rate and the favourable tax regime. By increasing accessibility from 3 of the world's biggest tourism markets one must hope that this will create the possibility for greater holiday lettings and increased rental yields on St Lucia property, thus making the island more popular with overseas investors," said Les Calvert, director of overseas property portal Property Abroad.com
