Slovakia has been identified by experts as a potentially lucrative property market for buyers from the UK.
According to TheMoveChannel, the country has one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe and has out performed all of its neighbouring nations over the last few years.
Investors looking to rent out their overseas property may find there is a high demand after as the number of UK visitors to the country rose by 38 per cent between 2006 and 2007.
The country recently opened its property market to foreign buyers and the introduction of flights to Slovakia by low-cost airlines has made the region more accessible to overseas investors.
Dan Johnson, managing director of TheMoveChannel, said: "Known for its striking countryside, traditional villages and eclectic architecture, Slovakia is now popular with ski enthusiasts."
Slovakia is set to join the single currency in January 2009 and the country is has a flat rate of income tax, set at 19 per cent, and there is no stamp duty applicable, reports Homes Overseas.
