Slovakia has been ranked third in a list of top adventure locations among emerging or developing nations
The Adventure Travel Trade Association (Atta) placed the country higher than other popular holiday spots, such as the Czech Republic and Hungary.
It is famous for its High Tatras, wealth of national parks and a number of historic landmarks.
Only Estonia and Chile were deemed better destinations for leisure travellers looking for adventure.
With a strong Atta rating and a variety of leisure activities available for holidaymakers, owners of rental accommodation could get substantial returns on their property.
Svetlana Gavorova, general manager of the Slovak Tourist Board, commented: "It shows that Slovakia as a travel destination is more and more visible in the world. It doesn't draw the attention only of the tourists but also of the travel professionals."
For holidaymakers looking for a more leisurely visit, Slovakia offers a number of cultural and historical attractions, such as the castle of Spis, the largest medieval castle compound in central Europe.
