south africas beaches get blue flag accreditation

Overseas property investors considering a purchase in South Africa might be encouraged to learn that 19 of the nation's beaches have been awarded International Blue Flag status.
With so many tourist hotspots recognised for their safety, cleanliness, amenities and maintenance of environmental standards South Africa is an attractive destination for buy-to-let investors.
The country joined the Blue Flag campaign in 2001 and was the first non-European country to participate.
In order to achieve Blue Flag status, 14 criteria have to be met, including coastal management, water quality, life-saving standards and parking.
Local authorities have reported that Blue Flag areas have seen an increase in the value of properties in the area.
Cape Town had five beaches accredited this year, while Port Elizabeth had four.
According to the Macau Daily Times, increasing numbers of tourists are travelling to South Africa to take advantage of the cheap cosmetic surgery on offer in the country.
